On 12/18/2024, LWCC announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Prescient National (“Prescient”)
- Prescient is a high-performing national workers’ compensation insurance company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina
The acquisition will connect two top-performing workers’ comp companies with a shared commitment to stakeholders and a culture of excellence
- Along with diversifying LWCC’s investment portfolio, both companies expect to learn from and leverage the other’s strengths for their mutual benefit
Prescient will continue to operate as a separate business in Charlotte, North Carolina
Prescient specializes in delivering forward-thinking workers’ compensation insurance solutions to employers throughout the United States
- Provides tailored risk management, claims handling, and coverage programs that help employers address today’s needs while preparing for the future
- Started as an MGA in 2004 and began writing business via an owned licensed carrier in 2007
- Holds an “A” (Excellent) Financial Strength Rating from A.M. Best
LWCC is a private mutual workers’ compensation insurance company headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
- As Louisiana’s largest workers’ compensation insurance carrier, LWCC provides security and stability to over 18,000 policyholders
- Has been consistently recognized by industry leaders and named to the Ward’s 50® group of top-performing insurance companies
- Has ~$945mm of Statutory Capital & Surplus as of 9/30/2024

Howden Capital Markets & Advisory Role
HCMA is acting as exclusive financial advisor to Prescient; key roles and responsibilities include:
- Preparation of detailed financial and valuation analysis
- Creation of marketing materials and financial packages
- Identifying potential buyers and managing an organized, efficient and highly competitive process
- Assisting in the negotiations of final transaction terms and conditions
- Providing objective advice and acting as a confidant to Prescient throughout the process
